our soma group worship night

this is one of those blogs where i'm writing it down so i don't forget.

tonight, we had our soma group over, and we just chilled out, ate brownies (thanks jana!!) and worshiped together. we were all instructed to bring something for the evening that meant something to us. people brought all kinds of things...prayers of confession, song lyrics, hip hop songs, scripture, and of course we sang a LOT.

we sang some old school hymns like amazing grace and be thou my vision (that one gets me EVERY time. i walked down the aisle to this song! loooove!), and several enter the worship circle songs. i loved it. we just passed around the guitar. some songs were solos, some of them everyone sang. we took requests, and shared things no one else had heard.

i read out of psalms tonight. the late 90's and early 100's are some of my favorite. they seem so full of joy. so i will leave you with psalm 100, in hopes that God will teach you something about Himself through it.

shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
know that the Lord is God.
it is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name. for the Lord is good
and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

thanks for reading!

  1. LOVE it! i'm hoping this season of our life groups will look like this. and we read psalm 100 each day before we lay caleb down for nap/bed. i now have it memorized and am looking for another short psalm or passage in Isaiah to hang over his bed. :)
