Turns out, there are marketing companies who put cars in malls just to get your info so they can invite you to a time-share presentation. OH YES. So we won...a scratch-off ticket to possibly win a BMW or one of five other prizes if we went down to San Marcos and listened to their shpeel.
Oh, yes we did!
We also, by the way, won a trip to Maui, but the airfare was way too expensive. And let's just get something straight...there is NOTHING free ever. We also won a 4-day cruise out of Galveston to Cozumel, that did not include tipping, parking fees, port fees and anything on board we might want. HA! Oh, and the gas to get there. But all in all, we really did come out on the cheap.
The day before we left, my boss joked with me that the ship wouldn't really be there and that we were still being scammed. It was all fun and games until we got to the port, an hour before sailing...and there was no ship.
WELL. Turns out, our boat broke down at sea, and they weren't able to repair the engines to run at maximum speed so the previous cruise, that was supposed to begin disembarking at 8am, didn't get off until 6 that night. Because of the inability to go at top speed, they changed our destination to Progreso, last minute and compensated us with generous on board credit and free champagne every day. Ha! We were pretty happy with the changes and came out on the ups with this one.
We spent a lot of time looking at the ocean, talking, dreaming and reading. We watched a ton of movies and slept in every day.We got to visit the Mayan Ruins in Progreso and hear a lecture about the Mayan Calendar that was incredible.
I didn't take my camera with me, but I do have some unposted instagrams to share. Dan got better pics of the ruins, but here are a few memories!
Towel art every day in our cabin!
Love love love, this pic. Mimosas after breakfast, staring at the beautiful blue ocean.
This place is the devil. 24-hour soft serve ice creamery. I think I had like 40.
Cool telephone booths in Progreso.
Thanks for reading. Ole!!
